About Us
The Bolton Bulldogs are Bolton's "High School" style American Football Club run for teenagers in and around the Bolton Area. We play in the British American Football League (BAFL) nationally during Spring and Summer each year with training usually starting each January.
The Bulldogs were formed back in 2006 after Jim Blinkhorn, the Head Coach of the Bolton Bulldogs was informed by his own children that school children were trying to copy the NFL games they saw on television. As an ex-player and coach for teams such as Manchester Allstars, Bolton Heroes and the Bolton Buccaneers, the idea to start a club in and around Bolton for the children came to be.
After the initial period of recruitment and training, the club built up enough 16-19 year olds to register for their first regular schedule in 2008. Registered to play in the British American Football League (BAFL), the Varsity team did better than initially envisaged against teams that had become established as regular playoff contenders.
